The Butter-Cutter On The DADT "Constitchyouant"

“Ain't seen ya in a long time. Waddaya been doin'?” The Butter-Cutter asked as I approached the virtual Chow Line.

“As of late, there has been this issue of homosexuals serving openly in the Armed Forces,” I answered.

“Yeah! 'n' them brown-eye warriors are in. Ain't they?”

“It looks that way,” I said.

“Man. Even the Commandant said 'NO' ta this shit 'n' them Demon-crats brushed him off 'n' passed it anyway! But, tell me. This guy Webb. Wasn't he a Marine when you were earnin' yer pay?”

“Yes, when I was on active duty, Senator Webb served in the Marine Corps.”

“Back then, did Semper Fidelis mean always faithful like it means now?”

“The Marine Corps motto of, 'Semper Fidelis' has ALWAYS meant ALWAYS FAITHFUL!” I answered with a bit of irritation.

“Faithful to who?” he asked.

“Well, we always emphasized that it meant faithful to our fellow Marines; and for those in leadership positions, especially faithful to those in our charge.”

“Whoa there, officer-type! What's that 'in our charge' mean?”

“OK. Put another way, it's about looking out for those Marines you have been entrusted with to lead. Such as, a platoon commander, in addition to accomplishing the mission assigned to him, he must also give equal emphasis to looking out for the welfare of the Marines in his platoon-those in his charge,” I tried to explain.

“Was Webb a platoon commander?” The Butter-Cutter asked.

“Yes. Well, at least it is my understanding that he served as an infantry platoon commander in Vietnam.”

“Well, he either never learned that stuff er fergot it.”

“What do you mean,” I asked him.

“Webb voted ta let queers run around with their dicks hangin' out. Didn't he?”

“Well, if you mean, did he vote to repeal DADT? Yes”

“ 'n' that survey the Pentagon sent around had 67% of Marines in combat arms sayin' they don't want them fags runnin' around in their units huntin' scores. Didn't he get that word?”

“You continue to overly dramatize this issue. Yes, he got that word.” I told him.

“Maan! BULL SHIT! This Webb dude's dropped his trou., bent over, 'n' aimed his brown-eye at us sayin': 'Good Bye Marines! Welcome Fagots!' He might o' been a Marine once, but he ain't one anymore!”

“Well I suspect he thought he was following the will of his constituents when he voted the way he did,” I said in trying to tone down this exchange.

“What the f*** are constitchyouants?” The Butter-Cutter asked.

“For a member of the Senate, that would be the people who he represents in the Congress and to whom he looks for guidance. It is similar to the relationship a platoon commander has with his Marines”

“Wait a freakin' minute! Them civilian puke constitchyouants who voted fer him don't got a dog in this fight. It's us active duty Marine constitchyouants 'n' we told him, 'NO!' Whoa . . . NOW I UNDERSTAND! This MOTHER F***ER didn't look ta civilian er Marine constitchyouants fer guidance: He looked ta the constitchyouant in his mirror fer guidance!”

I left the virtual Mess Hall silently shaking my head over the implications of The Butter-Cutter's conclusion on Senator Webb. He doesn't realize that he is accusing the senator of being a self-centered egotist. Such a personality is not only alien to Semper Fidelis but is corrosive to the cohesion inherent in “a band of brothers, a corps of Marines.” In sum, The Butter-Cutter sees Senator Webb's behavior as that of . . . an "EX-Marine."

Semper Fidelis,

Anthony Milavic

I knew no gays in the military, but I know that closeted gays served. There were probably several gays in my Airborne Infantry company in Vietnam. And in every Marine Infantry company in Vietnam. I believe that closeted gay men served extensively in the medical units, including Army combat medics and Navy corpsmen. I never heard dying grunt ask, "You a faggot?" while "Doc" was trying to stop the bleeding. I also know this; there are gay men buried in Arlington who died trying to save their buddies. They died in the same filthy uniforms, in the same mud, covered with the same blood as the rest of us. Among them, you will find Navy Crosses, DSC's, Silver Stars. And Purple Hearts. Maybe a CMH or two. Their medals probably went to their mothers; mothers who cried just like the mothers of every soldier, sailor, airman and marine that died in that stinking war. For all you pathological, manly men, would it satisfy you if we dug them up and buried them in the Faggot Cemetary, outside Washington? Away from all the manly men. How about the medals? Maybe you can find the surving family members and take the medals back. And in closing, if you really don't want any faggot medic or corpsman touching you when your leg is missing, or the hole in your chest is blowing those pretty red bubbles, paint "No Faggots" on your helmet. And wait for a manly man.

SgtMaj Thomas Reilly USMC 1/9/2011 1:37:27 AM (GMT)

Absolutely agree.

Joseph "Gus" Guastamachio 1/4/2011 10:42:11 PM (GMT)

Let us remember that the former Soviet Union's troops were riddled with homosexuals...and look what it got them....

Robin Rebhan 12/29/2010 5:50:35 PM (GMT)

Does this mean they can cross dress on and or off duty? If you want a promotion.... geez makes me sick and want to puke just to think of it!

Lt. Col. Dave Fry, USMC Retired 12/28/2010 5:22:50 PM (GMT)

Ed Benes makes some good points, however we talking about the Federal Government here. Can anyone name a bigger bunch of lame-ass idiots anywhere in the world than the US Congress? After you get through that brain teaser, remember they haven't done anything right in anyone's memory so stand-by for this to be FUBAR as well. Can we secure the borders? Can we reduce the debt? Well duh! The DADT agenda is just that....agenda. It's not about serving your country, it's about "in your face" and you can't do anything about it. There will be more legal horseshit from hereon out that will tax an already overtaxed command structure. Anything puked out of the halls of Congress is already crap and you can't change it. If we could spare 500+ good Corporals and Sergeants as detailees to replace the current Congressional leadership, we might get something done right in Congress for once! They know what mission is. They know what taking care of your people means. They live the Constitution.

Lt.Col. Ed Benes USMC (Ret). 12/28/2010 9:52:47 AM (GMT)

There was nothing wrong, in my opinion, with DADT. It didn't promote homosexuality, but allowed gays and lesbians to serve, with honor, as long as there was no homosexual conduct. As far as I know, every church, and some states, have laws against homosexual BEHAVIOR. Be gay, I don't care. Be lesbian, I don't care. But don't act on your impulses if you want to serve with honor in the military. As a married man, I may feel attracted to a good looking woman, but as long as I don't ACT on those feelings, I'm ok. It's the behavior that we are now being told we need to tolerate. And the camel sticks his nose a little further under the tent . . . and the military retreats from its high standards of moral behavior. I have no doubt that repealing DADT will cause our military to suffer. We will lose people who are ethically and religiously opposed to serving with gays. We will lose man-hours to sensitivity training that could have been better spent on beans, bullets and bandages. There will likely be "situations" leaders will have to deal with, when they could be making better use of their time. The plethora of ramifications expands beyond comprehension. This is one time we can truly say "God help us!"

Will Clifford 12/27/2010 11:57:37 PM (GMT)

If anyone remembers being snug in a fighting hole and there isn't much room for one, never mind two, and you are there for 12 or more hours....or it is cold, really cold, and you invite your buddy to snuggle up for warmth.....and steel is coming in and there really isn't much you can do about it....now tell me it's okay for homosexuals to openy serve. At least with DADT you wouldn't know who you were snuggled up with. Marines would do anything to save their buddy, knowing it was a two way street, and you better be there for him, no matter what. Is there going to be a diminishing of that spirit with the "Repeal?" I would hope not, really, but one has to wonder how this is going to play out...and it isn't fair or just for either the straight arrow or the gay blade queer. Will Clifford Capt., USMC (Ret)

Got it in one! Clean "X" Ring shot!

Spanky Hammond 12/24/2010 5:10:53 PM (GMT)

Jim Webb...he sure has strayed off the reservation. If he turned back the clock, I'm sure the 'real' Webb would be embarrassed by his abandonment of the values which were instilled at the Academy and as a leader in combat. He sold us down the river and is 100% fill-fledged, ego-maniacal politician. The boy seems to be going through a mid-life crisis so maybe we can lay it off on that--new wife, new political party and all that--clearly a 'sensitive man' who is comfortable with himself and is ungoing a reinvention process. He's bought into his own politically correct bullshit hook, line and sinker which makes him a lot more dangerous that when he was toting an M-14 and had a radio operator. In 'Old Corps' vernacular, he has 'gone Asiatic'. Deep inside, in places he discusses only with his shrink at the VA, he knows it. Maybe he took some head damage when Ollie gave him that ass whuppin' in the boxing ring at the Academy. He has become a Marine Corps pariah.

SgtMaj Jack Du Bois, USMC (Ret) 12/24/2010 1:15:42 AM (GMT)

Would like to add my two cents worth on the Butter Cutter. He sounds and talks like the Marines we had in the Corps back in the 40's. Tough, outspoken and direct. No PC back in those days. Keep him on Mess Duty and let him talk. Semper Happy

jaded 12/23/2010 7:09:36 PM (GMT)

Hey all, one way of looking at this not that I agree with it the Webb vote, but renact the draft get all of them on the front line end of problem! Oh yeah friendly fire happens:)))lol Merry Christmas!

Cy Kammeier 12/23/2010 1:59:42 AM (GMT)

Good shot Anthony. Butter Cutter cuts through the bs and addresses the problem in terms any red blooded male will understand.

Will Cl;ifford 12/22/2010 10:00:36 PM (GMT)

This issue is not over, and it will never be over for me as long as I am alive. The queers may have won this round, but it is not over, as long as you can remember that,"What Congress gives, Congress can take away." Stop thlrowing your hands up in the air, and start organizing rebuttals for 201`2 and after. Will Clifford Capt., USMC (Ret)

Norm Frenchy LaFountaine 12/22/2010 5:26:38 PM (GMT)

DC Wright & LtCol D Fry: You guys are mind readers, and between the two of you, you have stated enough to justify Snuffy to invoke his own powers under the 2nd Amendment! Maybe when God reclaims his Republic I'll see you at the Marine Tea party. Webb...the next thing we know, he'll be swapping spit with John Kerry and Scott Brown, a few more traitors. Semper Fi ! Frenchy

Bob Garrow 12/22/2010 2:32:57 PM (GMT)

Some say that there are no "Ex-Marines", but I can easily name two: Murtha and Webb. They both have clamed the title, but forgot the oath. I remember when I was talking to a HQMC Colonel about the choice for the next CMC some years back. He mentioned one or two Generals who "might make good Commandants", but when I suggested Al Gray, he looked at me in horror, "But, he's not political enough." Fortunately for the Corps, Gray did become CMC. It would appear that Amos is cut from the same bolt of camo. It is obvious that the "leaders" of the pentagon have never served in the mud with us grunts. I've said it before, I want Marines who will cover my back, not covet my backside! One pissed-off old Marine

Jesse 12/22/2010 1:24:46 PM (GMT)

Right ON!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruce L. Jones 12/22/2010 6:28:23 AM (GMT)

This was inevitable. No, it definitely does not reflect the desires and needs of the Marine Corps as a whole. It reflects, almost exclusively, the desires of a very vocal group of far-left wing liberal homosexuals who have grown to wield tremendous influence in all forms of media. Dissent from those rabble-rousers self-appointed social revolution will never be tolerated, especially from the ranks of those as powerless as the rank-and-file Marines, Soldiers and Sailors who will be forced to live this way. There will be many who will never accept this dictate but who will, nonetheless, be forced to comply. I can't see it improving morale or fostering trust and cooperation. Any square pegs will be pounded into the little round holes no matter what.

DC Wright 12/22/2010 6:14:01 AM (GMT)

Major, you DO have a way with words. And your friendly butter-cutter doesn't mince very many of them, either! But then, Marines DON'T mince around either, do we?!? At least until now. But I remain hopeful that we can do SOMETHING to restore our Constitution and the Republic, so that we don't destroy our Marine Corps and our military capabilities that have served us so well for all these years. I do fear, though, that we'll have blood in the streets before it's over, because these leftists/marxists WON'T give up their power grab without a MAXIMUM fight. My hope is that it starts SOON so that when it's over and we win, I won't be too old to march in the victory parade! Also I don't want to have to hand it off to my son and my grandkids to do what MY generation should never have allowed to get so far! Semper fi, D.C. Wright

Da Butter Cutter NAILED the Unsat forever Mark that Webb our former brother Marine earned with his abandonment of Our (not his) Corps! Thanks for the screwing Webb.

Another round in the V Ring for The Butter-Cutter!

D Shea 12/22/2010 2:22:20 AM (GMT)

YUP!! Iâ??m not a Marine but come from a long line of USN/USMC types, served with Marines and trained USMC C-130 pilotsâ?¦of course; itâ??s not just a Marine Thing but also a warrior â??In the Trenches Thingâ?!! Unfortunately, since around 1965, War or No, BeanCounters, StaffWeenies and PC Careerists have ruled the roost and Warriors have gotten little but Lip Service! As for Webb, his ilk and the despicable RINOs, there is something very corruptive and corrosive in DC! I suspect that Bill/Hillary are not the only ones with FBI Files, Black Books and Photo Negatives!!!

J. Clontz USMC (Ret) 12/22/2010 1:44:04 AM (GMT)

Me and the Butter cutter go back a ways. In our Corps we looked out for our own and them was the fellows like us, black, brown or yellow. Open squad bays and the head was a good place to set this to rest. A brush and a bucket is all that we needed and not even the bucket. Real Marines ain't goina live any other way. One peter puffer in the unit and say good night. Semper Fi, combat out

LtCol Dave Fry 12/22/2010 1:39:55 AM (GMT)

Every member of Congress serves for themselves and no other. The "facts" (sworn in; personal wealth grows exponentially) speak for themselves. If Senator Webb voted to repeal DADT, then there was something in it for him. Semper Fi? That was then and power and wealth are NOW. CMC has the balls and said so. No one else inside the beltway has any cajones and that's why we are in trouble. What else should we expect from a lame duck session of Congress, border security (another Border Patrol Agent killed)? Can we expect anything from ANY member of Congress, much less a former Marine? This isn't whimsy anymore, it's American history.
